Paris..... The First 24 Hours

We got back on the train to London, St Pancras (way too early for Claire... 5:30 start) and we hopped over to the Eurostar (Chunnel Train) to Paris.  This was the first time being on a train that moves soooo fast (over 334.7 kmh in its tests!!!!) and then under the English Channel for 20 minutes (felt just like being in a regular tunnel) we were 100 meters below the seabed.  Quite the feat when you think about it. 2 hrs 10 mins.

Once we got to the hotel, (funny guess what...... there was another subway strike, so we couldn’t go very far), so we then headed off to the Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre Village.  Quite the thing to behold!
And of course, the artists square at Place du Tetre

When, Mick was 13, had a silhouette created by an artist, (from the same artist square) cut from black paper with a tiny pair of scissors. The same artist is still doing the same work!!!....He created Claire and after Mick explained the story to him ...he did Mick for FREE!!!

As we were up so early in the day, Mick and I could barely keep our eyes open, so it was bed about 8:00 pm for both of us...(whoops I meant....for Mick).  So much for our first night in Paris....The City of Lights........and noise and bad driving and garbage everywhere...(outside of the tourist traps)....London has the edge so far!!
