First of all, it appears that the French country folk are not as well versed in computers and internet access as we are, so finding WIFI is a challenge. So we may be a couple of days out of contact, but are keeping tabs on what is going on, and will post asap.
We started the day listening to the Church bells toll at 7:00 am. What a wonderful way to start out. After a quick shower, we went for breakfast in the salon sitting at a table over looking the lake, watching the ducks on the grass. There was juice, coffee, tea, croissants, meats, cheeses, cereal, etc. Mick made the most of it as he had some of everything!!
We then headed off to see the castle on the hill, Chateau du Chateauneuf, what a wonderful place. It is a medieval hilltop castle village.
We then headed off to la Rochepot (our original destination – we were side-tracked by the beautiful Chateau in Sainte Sabine) as we saw a picture of another beautiful castle there.
We did not stop in la Rochepot as time was marching on and we had a long trip ahead of us to go to Chateauneuf du Pape where we wanted to stay for the evening and of course, taste the wine. So we left the region of La Cote-D’or behind us and ventured down to Provence, 2 ½ hours on the auto route south.
THANK GOD FOR THE GPS – we just type in our destination and the thing tells us exactly where to go. Every time Mick makes a wrong turn, it recalculates and sends us on the right course. I think Mick is in love with it and now wants to name it. Anybody got any ideas? (has to be female).
