Rest of France Day 1

3 days in Paris is about enough when on a daily budget as we are.  If and when there is a next time we would only stay in an expensive hotel on the Champs Elysees.  Accommodation -Poor....Service - poor.....Quality – miserable..... City-Dirty.....Value for money...minimal!
There was absolutely no attempt by the city to recycle...anywhere!!...When I asked about our bottles, paper products, etc I was told ”into the garbage!”.  The carbon footprint that Paris needs to attempt seems to be insurmountable for them so ...they gave up!!...Shame on Paris.
We were so glad to go and pick-up our rental car to leave the city behind.......There was more in store.  It is not the friendliest city to drive but topped with internal strife and strikes, even more difficult to leave.  I drove and Claire tried to map-read the confusing streets...We fought, argued and honked our way out...ha!...Eventually reaching the main direction towards Avignon in the south. (without making any errors or mishap)
We travelled about 300 kms on the auto route and decided it was about time to see France on the smaller roads. We paid the 16.50 Euro toll and ventured into the countryside of the Bourgogne region heading for la Rochepot.
After a while we turned a corner and in the dale below was the most picturesque village with a chateau and gorgeous church.  It turned out that the chateau was a hotel ....too much temptation, so we booked in for the night and spoilt ourselves.  After 2 weeks travelling it was wonderful to lap up a life of leisure!!

The village of Sainte Sabine is directly out of a postcard and the epitome of French life we dream of...gorgeous.
We would recommend it to anyone....Hostellerie du Chateau de Sainte Sabine.
After booking in, we drove around the area and picked up our supper from a lovely little store...Claire got her cat fix there ha!...her name was “baguette”.

Back to the chateau and a very welcome soak for Claire in a nice comfortable bathtub while Mick explored the building with his camera in hand......At last France is looking more welcoming!.
Coutyard area of the Chateau

Upper Dining Room

Le Caveau Dining Room (in the caven down in the basement area)

They also have their own venison on hand ......The Culinary experience was a tad too much money for us though!! (someday)
